Scenario Development & Storytelling

Scenario development and storytelling help to make the abstract tangible,* whether for strategy, product, or service design.

I develop “a day in the life of…” prompts to spark small groups in collaborative storytelling and whiteboarding activities.

The key is getting the group to summarize their story in a structured template (below right) so that they have a record of what the scenario represents.

I customize the scenario summary template to the session goals. I have also used the Business Model Canvas (below left) — and tailored it for government use — from the Business Model Generation book.
